What is Tokyo Mew Mew?

Tokyo Mew Mew a new TV series from Studio Pierrot (which is in Japan) began running on a channel named TV Aichi on 6th April 2002. It seems to be based on a manga that ran in Nakayoshi (the Nakayoshi site sells Mew Mew goods with manga style art on them, I'm guessing)

The opening song is named "my sweetheart" and its by Rika Komatsu.

The ending song is named "Koi wa A LA MODE" and its by Tokyo Mew Mew.

Tokyo Mew Mew is about girls combining with endangered animals to make a bunch of superheroes.

How do you create a completely sugar-coated magical idol singer girl show that guys will watch? Try combining 2 of the biggest clichés favoured by anime fan boys these days. Cat girls and maid outfits should do the trick...might as well give one girl glasses for that whole meganeko thing. Now you can market majoko wand/microphone thingamajiggers and other pastel painted toys to girls and vinyl kits & wall scrolls to guys...or so I'm guessing.
